Drau Reservoir
The fishing section of the municipality of Völkermarkt is on the left shore of the Völkermarkt Drau reservoir stretch and covers an overall length of 12,44 kilometres. There are two little marinas in the section, one near Völkermarkt with 100 berthing facilities and one in Edling with 54 berthing facilities. The reservoir is surrounded by an extremely beautiful countryside. Situated right below the town of Völkermarkt, it is a paradise for every fisherman. Especially catfish and carp specialists will find tremendous challenges in the reservoir. Pikeperch are abundant in great numbers as well.
The proximity of the river and the reservoir to the town make it a special destination for wonderful family holidays. Due to a sensitive stocking program the Völkermarkt reservoir is one of the “fishiest” places in Carinthia and became a real nature- and fishing-paradise over the last two decades.

Bait Fishing Drau reservoir Section- Municipality of Völkermarkt
Season: January 1st – December 31st
The reservoir lake of Völkermarkt developed after the Drau river was dammed up in a large basin directly beneath the town Völkermarkt. The shores are mostly dams on which willows and alders grow. The water quality is very good. The Völkermarkt reservoir lake is a wonderful nature and wildlife experience which you should not miss. Fish stocking management takes measures, so that the reservoir lake is kept in top fishing quality as one of the top fishing areas in Carinthia – a true nature and fishing paradise!
