Save River near Kranj with reservoir lakes and Kokra river
The fishing association Kranj manages among other waters also the Save river from the dam above the first road bridge in Kranj to the power station the Mavčiče, including the lower Kokra river until it flows into the Save river. From the small back-up at the district´s upper border to the third road bridge and the Kokra river district it´s "Fly only", although the fish population is very mixed. Apart from the strong nase population there are also many graylings. You will have a great day on the water if you know how to present your fly to the nases with their horny lips. The section is also stocked with rainbow trout for even more fishing success. Trout and grayling are the most abundant species in the Kokra river section. In the reservoir lake you find to conditions to fish for several species, especially Northern Pike and fish from the carp-family.
Description
- Fish species in the fly fishing section: Huchen, brown- and rainbow trout, grayling, nase, barb and chub. In the reservoir you find further species from the carp-family as well as Northern pike and pikeperch.

- Regulation: Fly fishing section Save and Kokra: Wet and dry fly, nymphe and streamer on the fly rod, in the reservoir all artificial lures and fishing from the boat are allowed

Zbiljsko jezero Reservoir lake
The reservoir lake is a popular place for excursions especially in the summer months. The lake is particularly well-known among fishermen, because of the strong abundance of trophy-sized Northern pike, which occur here in principal size. The strong aquatic vegetation makes perfect conditions for the spawning of Northern pike. You will also find nase as well as large trout in the reservoir lake.

Save River City Section

In the middle part of the section and on the way to the reservoir lake the current is already slowly and you will find mostly nase and chub.
Fly- and Bait Fishing
Reservoir lake Mavčiče
Permitted lures: Dry flies, artificial lures. White fish may be caught with floats and natural baits made of plants or cheese. They may be caught throughout the whole year, except during the closed season. White fish and fish from the trout family may also be caught from the boat.
Bait Fishing
Lake Črnjava
Fishing is permitted in the lake only. The feeding creek and outflow are breeding areas where fishing is forbidden. Fishing is allowed only with artificial lures, flies are not permitted. Grayling are protected in this section and may not be caught, because Lake Črnava is a breeding-lake for grayling.
Fly Fishing
Kokra River Section
The Kokra river is the largest supply river to the Save and because of its specific characteristics also its own section. The upper part of the section has an alpine character. The numerous pools and ground sills are home to some trophy brown trout. Brown trout are the predominant fish in this part of the section. Starting in the village Preddvor the river changes its character, the current becomes slower, and you will find also grayling and chub there.
Bait Fishing
Bobovek – Pond
The section consists of three ponds without considerable or feeding streams or outflows. Two are fishable. The water is misty, but clean. The ponds are stocked with carp, but you will find Chinese carp and Northern pike too.
